“Social Climbers” by Roger Hall, Directed by David Ertel
13th – 23rd May 1998
This is a Kiwi play with possums on a corrugated iron roof and a group of Kiwi women stuck in a bush hut with little to do
Five secondary School teachers and one of their daughters are trapped by bad weather in a small hut during a mid-term break tramp to escape the pressures of teaching. However other pressures come to bear as they begin to get on each other’s nerves.
As is Roger Hall’s style, this play has humourous interaction between ordinary people and some great one liners dotted through the producrtion.
Cast: Linda Meehan (Maxine); Cathy Morris (Emily); Kerryn Bocock (art student daughter); Jane Blinkhorne (Anne); Valda Upson (Susan); Liz Hughes (Kath)
