“The Dining Room” by A R Gurney, Directed by Heather Harrison
2nd April- 12th April 2014
This Pulitzer Prize nominated play is set in the dining room of a well-to-do household, the place where the family assembled daily for breakfast and dinner and for any and all special occasions.
The action is comprised of a mosaic of overlapping scenes set – in no particular order – between the 1930’s and the 1980’s. Characters from these different time period come and go through the room giving us glimpses of the upper class families whose money gave them power and position but not the freedom from making mistakes.
Gently humourous and thought provoking, it’s a compassionate look at those who used the room on a daily basis over a period of 50 years.
